In a galaxy far, far away...

This episode of Onward California features Dawn Sumner, a geologist on the Mars Curiosity Rover mission and professor at the University of California, Davis, who uses a virtual reality cave to explore the surface of Mars in search of similarities with planet Earth. The photorealistic, stereoscopic, virtual environment feels like your standing on Mars thanks to a composite of topographical data that has been taken from orbiting satellites and the high resolution, color photography taken by the Curiosity rover on the surface.
